A dog is often referred to as man’s best friend, and for one man his dog really was! Despite being in her final few weeks of life due to terminal cancer the bulldog woke up her owner with enough time for them both to escape a fire in the house. I think this story really shows karma, by deciding to give his dog her last few weeks in peace she was around to save his life.

Eurovision 2009

I do enjoy Eurovision, and this year was no exception. Held in Moscow, it was a huge event and they had obviously invested a lot of time and money into ensuring it was a success. I was especially pleased that our UK entry did better than the last few years, coming a very respectable 5th place. Hopefully we can continue this over the next few years too. The winning song this time round was from Norway, so I look forward to watching next year’s competition from Norway.

giant wolf spider

The current environmental crisis could have more unexpected side effects than expected. The ‘wolf’ spider, found in Greenland, has been significantly increasing in size with the warmer conditions and it’s exoskeleton has increased in thickness correspondingly. If this trend continued it’s been speculated that these spiders could end up humvee sized and bullet proof, a big game hunter’s dream.
