The recent price variations in oil have affected most people in one way or another. The high prices over the summer had many of us tightening our belts, or at least leaving the car behind when possible, whereas the current fall in prices is a very welcome change.

I have to agree with Mr Brown that these fluctuations aren’t good in the long term though, it makes it very difficult to plan any sort of budget. I wish there were more alternatives to oil, as it’s only going to get worse as the supplies dwindle. Eventually we’re going to have to use alternatives, but I doubt there will be any real shift in that direction until oil really gets prohibitively expensive.

I think farmers do very well to stay in business at all in the UK, it’s certainly not easy, and feel very sorry for them when you hear about cases like this. There are a number of contributing factors to the accident, but it’s still resulted in more problems for our farmers on top of the wet summer making crop yields rather doubtful.

It’s nice to see companies focusing on the environment, and e-photoframes are one of them. As a seller of photo frames, they are very proud to offer a service to plant a tree for every photo frame purchased from their shop.

e-photoframes have been officially certified as being carbon zero by CO2balance. Detailed reports are produced on an annual basis that account for all operations conducted by e-photoframes to product their photo frames. They then donate a fee to CO2balance so that the money can be invested to offset their carbon emissions.

The range and quality of photo frames sold by e-photoframes are exceptional but inexpensive, particularly their wooden photo frames. So if you want to find the perfect frame for your treasured photos, then why not try a company with a strong fair trade ethos?

The government has proposed new plans to increase the number of litter bins in the street that offer recycling facilities. The City of London, Cornwall and Essex all offer some degree of recycling public litter bins, and this proposal is designed to increase that to all counties in England.

Currently, 92% of people recycle to some extent. Recycling facilities at home are quite extensive for nearly all counties in the UK. However, the facilities away from home are virtually non-existent. I saw public recycling litter bins in Truro, Cornwall for the first time this year, and I had never seen them before.

District Boroughs that already have recycling litter bins are already seeing a large increase in recycled waste, and the London Borough of Hillingdon is a prime example of this.

I think that this is a great idea, since most people are too lazy or unwilling to take their waste home with them to recycle. If you make it as simple as possible to recycle, more people are likely to make the effort. Once concern that I do have is that people will maliciously put the wrong items in the wrong recycling bins. It will happen sadly.
