Christmas Escape

One turkey at least has escaped it’s fate this year, when it was found wandering along the road. It’s unclear where the bird came from, it could have fallen off the back of a truck, or escaped from a farm or a private coop.

I thought this was a lovely story, especially as the bird is now going to be rehomed as a loved pet where it won’t end up as dinner next year instead. I’d also like to add a big thumbs up to the animal shelters, they do such a great job of looking after lost and unwanted animals, finding them new homes where they can live the life they deserve.

I had to laugh when this story was pointed out to me, I’ve heard of a variety of mad things attempted when owing money, but attempting to pay a bill with a spider drawing is certainly new.

Another funny point I thought was that the picture was sent via email as well, so wasn’t even worth the paper it was drawn on. The guy still wanted it back though! I have to admit that as a delaying tactic it probably did the job, giving him a bit longer to find the money while not actually ignoring the demands. From the dates in the email he gained an additional 4 days without really being obstructive.

Happiness through Deception

I loved this story of happiness found through deception! The twins swapped dates and each found their perfect partner. Now celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary it’s also a lovely story of true love.

I also found it interesting that they had to share their wedding day. Thankfully they were each ready to marry without too much gap between them, though there was a bit of a wait for one sister. I wonder if this will become more common again with the average cost of weddings so high and now credit is harder to come by.

Monopoly Record

I love playing Monopoly, and wished I’d found out about this world record attempt earlier. It must have been great fun playing such a huge game, involving people from all over the world.

I have to confess to being very bad at the game though, I’m very much a fan of the ‘it’s the taking part that counts’ philosophy as it’s very rare I do well at games like this. The odd occasion I get a stroke of luck and do well, even winning sometimes, it’s always great and seems more fun in some ways too!

There are all sorts of funny videos online, so you can find whatever takes your fancy. These Fart Videos may tickle your fancy and there are a few to choose from too.

One of the categories on the site is Face Farting, where the video does just what it says on the tin – a guy is subjected to a large woman farting in his face. Other categories include Animation Farts, Long Farts, Smoking Farts, Girl Farts, Fire Farts, Baby Farts and Wet Farts. I even found this animated South Park Kenny Fart Video, where, as is to be expected, Kenny dies from lighting his fart!

Can you skim a stone 51 times?

Russell Byars has recently entered the record books by skimming a stone an amazing 51 times across water! I can do it about 4 times, but 51 times! Russell proudly shares his technique, and claims that anyone using his technique can easily skim a stone 15 to 20 times.

Amusingly, this chap is surprised at some aspects of his throwing technique, and can barely believe his achievement too. Scientists have spent a bit of time studying the technique using aluminum discs and a special catapult. The angle of the stone hitting the water, the amount of spin, the speed of the stone, and possibly even the location you attempt the skim.

I think you’re likely to get about 10 skims on a lake or flat water feature, but only a few if you try doing in the sea. Calm water seems to be a large influence on the technique. But 51 skims? Still very impressive.

Topless Nun sign angers local councillors

Plans to put up a sign of a bear chested nun in front of seaside resort hotel, converted from a convent, have angered local councillors in Tenby, in Wales. The sign depicts a nun lifting up her clothing to expose her chest.

The town councillors are encouraging planners to refuse permission for the sign, as they deem it to be indecent and disrespectful to the nuns who worked there previously. However, the councillors have no problem with converting the convent into a luxury hotel and restaurant. Many of the hotels in the local area have been converted into flats, and so a hotel would help attract some tourism.

It does beg the question though. For such a sign, what does it say to the quality of the hotel. A naked lady on a sign for a hotel suggests its a brothel!
