Around 4% of the American population suffer from Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). People suffering from GAD worry excessively either about specific situations or just about life in general.

GAD can often be quite difficult to diagnose as the condition can cause physical side affects, which are then treated individually without the root cause being identified, or they are misdiagnosed as simply being stress related. Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms in general are mainly focussed around excessive worrying and feelings of anxiety. However some specific psychological symptons include a desire to escape and feeling on edge. Physical symptons could be dizziness, headaches or insomnia, while behavioural symptons such as being irritable or easy to startle could also be a clue. Once diagnosed though there are a variety of medical treatments that can help.
