Trials are due to start in Scotland on a male contraceptive injection, that could give couples an alternative to the pill. Each injection would contain a mix of testosterone and progesterone and be given every 2 months. This would cause sperm counts to drop significantly making these injections more effective than condoms for contraception. The effects would also be completely reversible making this a very real alternative for many couples once the trials are completed.
